N.C. Wyeth's Pilgrims is a book written by Robert San Souci, with beautiful pictures by N.C. Wyeth.   It is a 32 page picture book for children in grades 4-6.

This book has very good historical information on the Pilgrims journey from England to America.  The beginning of the book touches briefly on the Separatists trip to Holland and their leaving from England.  The story then takes us on the trip across the Atlantic on the Mayflower and the Pilgrims first year in the New World.  San Souci does a great job of describing the hardships that the Pilgrims faced.

N.C. Wyeth's pictures are extremely beautiful, and offer a highly romanticized version of Pilgrim life.

The adventurous saga of the settling of the Plymouth Colony is strikingly portrayed in this magnificent book. The story of the Pilgrims, including the first Thanksgiving, is a central part of America's history and, over the course of time, it has taken on an almost mythical quality. Drawing upon a variety of resources, including the author's trip to the Plymouth Plantation, the text dispels some popular misconceptions about the setting of our nation as it broadens our understanding of the bravery and determination of our forebears. -- Chronicle Books

A fine text and superlative production ( The Horn Book ). San Souci dedicated this book to the school teachers of America (and) they will find the book extremely helpful in their teaching. -- Library Talk. American Bookseller Pick of the Lists.
