StoryBird Explanation

This storybird is a quick bout of John Carver's life.  He led many different aspects of the pilgrimage to the new world.  I referred to him as The First Governor of the Plymouth Colony, which indeed, he was.  He was born in England.  We have been led to believe he was born into a wealthy family.  He worked very hard to set up the money they needed to travel.  He got everything ready and organized for them to leave.  He was one of many to sign the Mayflower compact and he was elected governor.  He also liked to keep peace so he set up a peace treaty with the Wampanoag tribes.

If things hadn't gone this way, I wonder if the pilgrims would have made it to the new world.  Would they have had any money set up to travel?  Would they have been able create the treaty's?  This is important to consider because at the time there were many who didn't want to go to the new world.  So, did John Carver have a significant role in allowing those who wanted to go, be financially able to go.

When I think about it now I realize that John Carver was a significant person for the pilgrims.  Not only did he set up for the travel, he took charge while in the new world, and he created the peace that the pilgrims needed at the beginning.

I still wonder if John Carver was honored to be governor.  Did he enjoy being in control?  Did he want to take on the responsibilities of getting the pilgrims organized in the new world?
